This print is the first in a new series of annual editions Critical Distance launched in 2019. Selected by a different guest curator each time, the annual series continues our tradition of providing publishing opportunities for artists while producing affordable artworks for our audiences. 

Ebti Nabag exhibited with CDCC in 2018 in the group exhibition Exposing Liminalities, curated by Emma German.

About the Artist
Ebti Nabag received her MFA from the Doc Media program at Toronto Metropolitan University (2016). Her art practice is centred on photography and film, specializing in environmental portraiture. Nabag focuses on the intimate details of daily life and the subtle shifts that occur between generations in communities from Canada, Africa to the Caribbean. Her work has been exhibited in the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival and BAND Gallery in Toronto.

About the Curator
Liz Ikiriko (b.1977) is a biracial Nigerian Canadian independent curator and photo editor. She is currently an MFA candidate in Criticism and Curatorial Practice at OCAD University (2019). As an independent curator she has exhibited across Canada, worked with artists internationally, facilitated workshops with Ryerson University, the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival and has been published in Public Journal, MICE Magazine, Akimbo and The Ethnic Aisle, among others. Ikiriko’s work is centredon addressing hidden histories and foregrounding platforms for underprivileged artists. She is committed to the creation of experiential, socially engaged art that is accessible to a wide public.
