Isabel Lewis is an artist interested in creating multisensory experiences, collapsing formal boundaries, and centering collectivity. Consistent with the artist’s interest in hosting and storytelling, An Occasion to Consider a Book is an invitation to reflect on how a book might be performed in the world. It is Lewis’s first publication and marks the first time she conceptually addresses the physicality of the format, imbuing it with her expanded sense of the choreographic.
