True to its title, Bruises provides a visual record of the variety of bruises found on the body of artist Leah Wellbaum. Ranging in appearance from deep pink welts to a faint imprint on pale skin, the physical trauma is rendered a strangely beautiful dermal reaction. With lo-fi photography collaged into simple overlay arrangements, Bruises takes a light-handed and even humorous approach to the documentation of an ephemeral marking on the human body."
