is, goes, shines is an experimental art book, that takes inspiration in concept from works such as The Milkman by Anna Burns. The Milkman is an examination of 'The Troubles decades-long violence stemming from British occupation of the North of Ireland, from the POV of a girl in a usually male-dominated sphere of perspective. is, goes, shines is about Islam, Ottawa, memory & belonging. What does it mean to grow up female in a world that discriminates against you for that? What if you add on managing the impacts of cultural differences, sharpened by the reaction to violent acts perpetrated by (primarily) males who you're told you belong with by virtue of theoretically being from the same culture, though not ideologically in action?
